I have a crack in the side of our brick house. It's mostly the plaster, and not the brick. I'm afraid it's got something to do with the foundation, but I also wonder how difficult it is for a brick and mortar person to match the mortar perfectly. Has anyone experience with this?

No, I don't have any experience for this. It is better that you should hire a professional who can guide you properly.

It can be done. A professional should know how to match as well as patch. I have dark grey mortar and it was easy to see where our patch was made for a while, but time has faded the new mortar to match the old.
