I am thinking about installing my own carpet. Has anyone done this themselves. I have done everything in my house myself, but this is one of those things that I think may be worth the installation cost, however, I would like to save some money and do it myself.

If anyone is an expert on carpet please give me your advise.

I am not an expert in installing carpets but I have been doing it at home.

What I do is that I always put a little allowance for the sides because what I have noticed before, the carpet shrinks after a few weeks that it has been installed. I also put rugby to glue it on, just to put it in place during the first few weeks.

The main advice I would give is to roll the carpet out fully to make sure you have it positioned to cover the whole floor. I have been amazed in the past to find people not rolling out the carpet fully and finding later during the fitting that they don't have enough carpet at one wall.
